About us

About The Crossroads

The Crossroads is a non-profit, community-driven eco-project based in Megalopoli, a small town in the heart of the Peloponnese, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and forests. In a place known primarily for coal mining and industrial activity, we are creating something radically different: a living oasis of regeneration, learning, and cooperation.

Our Urban Villa is our main meeting, living, and learning space. Here we explore what it means to turn an existing urban home into a self-sustaining, low-impact living system—through renewable solutions, water awareness, food preservation, and shared daily life. The surrounding land is being transformed into a productive permaculture food forest, bringing biodiversity back into the urban fabric.

Across the street, the Eco-Village Land is where ideas become physical reality. This is where we focus on natural building, woodworking, earth-based construction, and outdoor community projects. We learn by doing—building together, experimenting, and developing skills that reconnect people with materials, land, and each other.

The Crossroads is not just a project; it is a process. A place where people from different backgrounds come together to learn, build, live, and imagine new ways of relating to land, resources, and community. Through daily life, shared responsibility, and creative collaboration, we are cultivating a model of sustainability that is practical, human, and deeply rooted in place.

Here are some things people have to say about us.

My experience at the Crossoroads was amazing! The community life there is very organized, people and the pets are incredible and the task are very joyful. I had a full room just for me and the food provided was cooked by one of the volunteers who cook very good!

I'm so glad I spent the last 6 weeks here - and I even extend my stay! This place feels like a home away from home. The large garden offers plenty of sunny spots to relax, even in winter. I wasn't used to being around dogs at first, but now I adore the five wonderful dogs here. Meals are freshly cooked by volunteers, and the work is varied, educational, and never boring. Everyone shares chores, creating a true sense of community. The hosts Alex and Pam are truly kind, very flexible, and really care about making everyone feel welcome. Thank you, Kokinakis family, for this amazing experience!

What an unforgettable experience!! I am a city girl to my core, but I learned so much while staying here. I meet so many great people and learned a lot from the locals in Megalopolis. I even got help and attend two wedding during my stay, which was expected, but was a truly special experience to be apart of. It was great that they let us take a car on the weekends so we could explore other cities nearby. The Peloponnese is now one of my favorite parts of Greece and I hope to come back if I get the chance :)
